Frequently asked questions
The questions we get most, answered without hedging.
Is Admission.ly really free for students?
We do not charge students a platform fee to search, compare or submit an application. Institutions may charge their own application, tuition, enrolment or service fees, billed by them under their own refund terms. Every invoice names who is charging you.
How do you make money, then?
From participating institutions, partner agencies, and advertising that is always labelled as advertising. Payment never buys a verification badge, and a sponsored result is always labelled and never presented as an academic recommendation.
Does 'verified' mean the institution is accredited?
No. Verification is an identity and authority check: the organisation exists as it claims to, and whoever maintains its profile is authorised to act for it. It is not accreditation, a ranking, government recognition, or any guarantee of admission.
Why do some institutions have no programmes?
We list institutions from public sources with their name, type and location. Until an institution publishes programme data with us there is nothing to apply to, so we say so on the page and keep it out of search results. We would rather show you fewer real options than a long list of dead ends.
Does 'Submitted to institution' mean I have been accepted?
No. It means your file has entered the institution's admissions workflow. Every status on your application is a processing milestone, not an outcome. Decisions appear as an offer, a conditional offer, or an unsuccessful result.
Why is tuition shown in different currencies?
Because that is the currency the institution will actually invoice you in. Where we show a converted figure it is labelled as approximate and stamped with the date of the rate used. Sorting and price filters use the converted figure so a price in one currency cannot masquerade as cheaper than one in another.
Do I have to use an agent?
No. You can apply yourself wherever an application route is open. If an agency introduced you, it may receive a commission from the institution when you enrol — you are told this at the point of applying, and it does not change what you pay.
Who can see my documents?
Only people entitled to the application they belong to: you, the institution you applied to, an agency that owns the file, and our support staff when they need to act on it. Documents are never public, never served from a shareable link, and access is re-checked on every download.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Ask from your portal or email us. We delete or anonymise your personal data except where we must retain records — for example, an invoice we are legally required to keep. We will tell you what is retained and why.
Something on a page is wrong. What now?
Tell us. The institution's own published information is the authority, and we correct the record rather than argue with it. Pages show when they were last reviewed.
